This time of year is always so lovely as we change over to the cooler months. It's the perfect time to bring in some firewood for a cosy fire or light some scented candles to create a warm glow. There's something special about the sound of leaves crunching underfoot and the satisfaction of warming up with a hot chocolate after a brisk walk.
As I unpack my Autumn boxes from the loft there are always far more decorations than I remember from last year. It's quite a job to put them all up but I do get that buzz of excitement when I open the first box and see the smiling orange pumpkins and leaves, as if they're saying, "It's our turn again!"
As the leaves start to change and the air gets cooler, it's time to start thinking about decorating for autumn.
Here are some quick and simple tips to bring the cosy feeling of the "ber" months into your home.
Use warm colours - Reds, oranges, yellows, and browns are perfect for autumn. You can add these colours through throws, cushions, blankets, and other decorative items. Autumn ribbons are a fantastic way to make your autumn wreathes look extra special.
Add some texture - Cosy up your home by adding some comfort. Chunky knit blankets, fabric pumpkins and woven baskets are all great options.
Bring in some natural elements - Pinecones, acorns, and autumn leaves make great decorations. Gourds and miniature pumpkins look wonderful on tables and windowsills.
Swap your candles - Replace your summery scents with warmer, spicier scents like cinnamon, pumpkin, and apple.
Pop a pumpkin on your front door step and add glorious chrysanthemum bloom. You can buy these really reasonably at most supermarkets and garden centres each year for under £5. Then if you can add an autumn wreath on the door you're all set!
